Screenings and Events

Located in the heart of the nation's capital and with easy access to Metro, The Documentary Center at The George Washington University is a magnet for Washington DC audiences. We curate documentary screenings, co-sponsor select films with non-profit organizations and broadcasters, and host numerous professional development seminars. Some of our previous partner organizations include in these events include: Docs in Progress, Women in Film and Video, The Immigration Film Festival, The Censored Women Film Festival, CNN Films, and The Environmental Film Festival In The Nation's Capital among many others.

This past year we also kicked off What's Up? Docs!, The Documentary Center's curated, monthly fall and spring series of retrospective and newly-released documentaries. Our fall season was entitled Roots: Films that Defined the Documentary Form and our spring season was: What Do You Believe?: A Rabbi, a Priest, a Physician, and a Lawyer Walk Into a Movie Theater. Each screening is followed by a post-screening Q&A with a noted author, scholar, film director, or documentary forward-thinker.

We invite you to watch our calendar and join us for all of our exciting screenings, seminars and symposia, and to screen your own film with us!
